Aysin and Ali Ulvi Büyüknohutçu ( both 61 years old) were found dead in their home. They were fighting against stone quarries in their region, their activism could be the possible reason of the attack. The 31-year-old suspect committed suicide before the trial. Ali Yumaç said before his death that a 65- or 70-year-old man working in a quarry approached him on May 8, gave him TL 3,000 in advance and promised the rest of the money after the murder of Ali Ulvi Büyüknohutçu. The supporters of environmentalists continued to push for justice but the police never found the potential instigator of the crime.
