Rati Ratiani, a journalist of Mautskebeli was arrested by the police while he was reporting on a peaceful protest in Racha forest. The reason of the protest was the authorities had failed to guarantee that the public lands, bordering Russia to their north and South Ossetia to their east, would not be sold to anyone. The police detained the leaders of environmental organizations who tried to demand a meeting with the environmental minister of the country.
